I’ve spent time the last couple of days reflecting on a magical weekend spent watching my oldest perform in the musical Children of Eden. This particular lyric stuck in my head after leaving the theater each night. Life is all about choices. Every day, every moment is a fresh start. This is something I talk about with my kids. You can’t control other people’s decisions, but you have the choice about what you put into the world. My kids know I don’t like the word hate. You can use that word to describe homework and broccoli, but never people. If they are having a difficult time with a peer, we talk through appropriate responses or maybe the need to take a step back. Retaliation, meanness, or hate are not the answer. At the end of the day, are you proud of your choices?
